20 Style Tips On How To Wear A Suede Jacket

Fashion-wise, it doesn’t get much better than spring (except for fall – fall wins). The colors seem brighter, everything is fresh and new, and you can finally get rid of your bulky winter coat, gloves, hats, and assorted accessories. But getting rid of your warm winter jacket doesn’t mean you can get rid of every jacket – spring days still require something light, especially for the evening or early morning. And while there are lots of options (a denim jacket, leather jacket, utility jacket, to name a few), one of my personal favorites is the suede jacket.

Suede has been super popular in the last few months – we’ve seen it in the form of skirts, dresses, shirts, and boots. It’s a popular fabric for winter because it’s very warm, and you may have become accustomed to seeing suede winter coats out there. They’re usually heavy, with some sort of fur collar. Suede jackets for spring are different. I personally prefer a lighter moto jacket, which basically looks like a suede version of a leather jacket – very cool, very trendy. You can also opt for a more retro style with buttons, or something super boho and Coachella-esque with fringe.

No matter what you pick, there’s no denying that suede jackets are perfect for spring weather, which can get quite chilly at times. They’ll keep you warm without making you look bundled up, and they can make any outfit look instantly more put together. I have a rose gold and pink suede jacket I snagged from a limited edition Lauren Conrad for Kohl’s line last year, and I can’t wait to wear it. If you’re excited to wear yours, here are 20 style tips on how to wear a suede jacket for a little bit of fashion inspiration!

1. Go for a classic, Parisian inspired look by wearing a suede moto jacket over a striped shirt and a skater skirt. It’s an easy and versatile spring outfit.

2. Opt for a fringe suede jacket for something more retro and boho.

3. A suede jacket is a great way to make a summery dress work for spring. On chilly days, add tights, otherwise go for bare legs, ankle boots, and a hat.

5. A crop top looks professional under a fitted suede moto jacket with high-waist pants.

8. A suede jacket keeps you feeling covered up over a lace-up shirt.

9. A lot of people are weird about black and brown combos, but I personally love it. Try breaking up an all-black outfit with a tan or brown suede jacket.

10. Keep it simple. Sometimes a nice suede jacket looks best over a plain white tee and jeans.

11. Make shorts work for spring with a suede jacket and cool ankle boots.

12. Feeling chilly in a dress with no tights? Add a suede jacket to keep your look perfect for spring.

13. It can be fun to pair something classic over something fun and different. Take a graphic dress and add a suede jacket – you can even look for a vintage one like this.

14. Go for a boxy button down suede jacket for something unique. I like the look of a tan jacket over a black and white outfit.

15. A suede jacket pulls together the look of a simple striped midi dress and heels.

16. A pretty bralette, even with high-waist jeans, can leave you feeling exposed. Throw on a suede moto jacket if you feel like you need something else.

17. Wear your jacket over a graphic tee with a cool mini skirt. There are so many options here.

18. Go super boho by wearing a suede jacket over a white crochet dress or romper. Bonus points if it has fringe. Extra bonus points if you wear a floppy hat like this one.

19. Yes, you can wear a suede jacket with sweats and look this cool. The moto jacket keeps your sweatshirt, leggings, and running sneakers from looking too lazy.

20. A suede jacket can also pull together mom jeans and sneakers. How cool and different is this?
